I’m looking forward to attending EXPO Next, EXPO magazine's June 19-20 Baltimore conference where most of the usual expo industry suspects (speakers) are either not speaking, or if they are, the discussion is NOT about the usual topics. In the interest of full disclosure, I am one of the usual suspects, and yes, I’m moderating a session—but it’s not with the usual suspects!
Entitled, “Events as a Platform: Creating a 360-Degree Show,” salon panelists are Mark J. Levitt, Daniel McKinnon, Chris Price and Linda Uslaner. They will be discussing the planning and implementation process for 365, 24/7 community engagement. Attendees will walk out with their own plan of action to take back to the office.
However, more than being a part of a very cool session/interactive workshop, I’m excited about hearing lot of speakers I’ve never had the opportunity to listen to before. I’m excited to be a student and learn new stuff. I’m excited to meet new people and network with them. Lastly, I’m excited to see longtime friends and colleagues.
I’ve even read the brochure and have mapped out what sessions I’ll be attending. I’m going to follow the advice I’ve been giving in my blogs over the last 1-1/2 or so years.
In short, I’m not going to the event with the old, been-there-done-that mindset. I’m embracing this as NEW. It’s exciting!
