United Arab Emirates Gets Bullish On Events

New convention bureau launched in Abu Dhabi.

On the heels of the 79th UFI Congress, hosted in Abu Dhabi in late 2012, the Abu Dhabi Tourism and Cultural Authority (TCA Abu Dhabi) has announced the launch of the Abu Dhabi Convention Bureau in the United Arab Emirates.

The Abu Dhabi Convention Bureau is a new, one-stop entity within TCA Abu Dhabi designed to support the growth of exhibitions and conferences in the city, providing financial and non-financial support to interested parties.

“We will provide free and non-biased assistance and support to professional convention, incentive and exhibition planners, corporations and associations so that they can bid for, win and hold conferences, major business events, business meetings and congresses in Abu Dhabi,” Jasem Al Darmaki, deputy director general of TCA Abu Dhabi, says in a release.

The bureau will provide a variety of services, including bid presentation support, delegate generation campaigns, local stakeholder coordination and knowledge, on-site destination advice, government support coordination and marketing assistance.

TCA Abu Dhabi is also working to upgrade its Abu Dhabi Advantage incentive programs aimed at bringing international events to the emirate and winning regional corporate meetings for the destination—the upgraded versions will be launched at the Gulf Incentive Business Tourism and Meetings exhibition later this month.

“The Abu Dhabi Convention Bureau is an enabler platform that will drive and support the development and promotion of business events throughout the emirate efficiently, effectively and transparently,” adds Al Darmaki. “Its mission is to champion the emirate as a dynamic global business events leader.”
