United Business Media has taken another step in its acquisition tear. The company announced Thursday that it has bought Manchester, England-based The Route Development Group Limited, the operator of a series of global aviation route development and network planning events, on behalf of UBM Aviation. Financial terms were set at approximately $12.5 million in cash and another $2 million in deferred consideration payable over the next two years.
Also included in the deal is a supporting aviation route consultancy business. Combined, The Route Development Group’s revenues for 2010 are expected to be more than $11 million, UBM says.
“We are delighted to have acquired this fantastic business, which includes a genuinely unique mix of assets which will enhance how we serve the airline and airport markets,” UBM Aviation CEO Peter von Moltke says in a statement. “I am also pleased to welcome their solid base of talented aviation industry experts, whose skills will greatly complement the UBM Aviation team.”
The Route Development Group Limited’s flagship production is a global networking event called Routes—The World Route Development Forum. Last year’s event in Beijing attracted nearly 3,000 participants and will be held in Vancouver, Canada this year in September. The company also produces smaller regional events in the Americas, Europe, Asia Pacific, Africa and Russia.
Through June 30, UBM says it acquired a total of 12 businesses for a combined $68.3 million.
