Tip of the Week: Make attending your show easy for the media Getting consumer magazines to cover a show can be difficult. Editorial staffs are small and budgets are tight, so managers are less willing to pay for trips to industry shows. When Sylvia Tawse was asked to draw press coverage to the Natural Products Expo in Baltimore, she planned a day trip for editors from New York to come to her show in a limo. It required little time away from the office and no expense report. Nine editors took her up on the offer. An industry expert on natural products trends rode along and answered questions during the three-hour trip. Now the show is regularly covered by all nine editors, and featured in magazines such as Parent, Health, Good Housekeeping and Self.
