Shepard Exposition Services has expanded again, agreeing to acquire US Expo & Convention Services, a general service contractor that primarily operates in Phoenix, Tucson, Ariz., and Albuquerque, N.M.
The purchase is the most recent move in a growth strategy that has seen Shepard move into larger facilities in Las Vegas and Southern California (Ontario, Calif.) in recent months.
The Tucson-based US Expo & Convention Services has a roster of events that includes the Southern Arizona Homebuilders Association Home Show, Waste Management Symposia Conference and the Festival of Hummingbirds.
More important than the events it will bring to Shepard is the opportunity for expansion into the Southwest in concert with organic growth and recent staff hirings in Las Vegas and Los Angeles.
US Expo’s operations will be integrated into Shepard’s. Before the acquisition, Shepard had eight offices.
“This will strengthen our existing national operations network by adding these key markets to our growing Western operations,” says Shepard President Carl Mitchell.
US Expo Owner Maurya Palmer says, “The market in the southwest U.S. is beginning to explode. We need to join forces with a group of people who share the same values. Shepard provides that fit along with significant operational resources.” The deal is expected to close within 30 days.
