Questex Media Group Launches New Event

Portals, Content & Collaboration Summit added to appointment-based event group.

Questex, a Newton, Massachusetts-based b-to-b media company, has announced that it has launched another event. Called the Portals, Content & Collaboration Summit, the show is part of an event division that has grown its appointment-based summits from zero to 25 in the last five years.

According to the company, the Incentive Travel Exchange event series was the first of the appointment-based events to launch in 2005. Questex then acquired U.K.-based McLean Events International which had already been producing about 13 appointment-based events.

The company has since grown its appointment-based events to 25 over the last 5 years. Markets covered include travel, health and fitness and hospitality, among others.

In December 2009, Questex completed a financial restructuring, two months after filing for Chapter 11 bankruptcy, that resulted in a sale of the company to a group of its senior lenders. The agreement, Questex said, provided “significant financing,” including debtor-in-possession and exit financing, which would be used to help finance the company’s operations.
