The International Association of Exhibitions and Events has launched a social media task force led by Chris Brogan, President of New Marketing Labs. The task force’s initial goals include developing best practices for using social media in individual business communications and to market exhibitions and events (by July) as well as to create a white paper on effectively using social media to promote and enhance events...The U.S. Travel Association has created a new board member council, the Meetings, Incentives and Trade Show Council, to enhance advocacy activities for the industry. Objectives of the council include establishing the value of meetings, incentives and trade shows in the minds of opinion leaders, policymakers and business leaders; driving a proactive legislative agenda to increase these meetings; create new industry advocates and allies; and expand the U.S. Travel Political Action Committee to include significant contributions from the meetings, incentives and trade show industry.
