Canon Communications will launch three 2010 DesignMed events focusing on the medical electronic imaging, diagnostics and interventional device industry sectors. Electronics Design News (EDN) magazine, which Canon recently acquired, will sponsor the events. The DesignMed series will co-locate with Canon’s Medical Design & Manufacturing (MD&M) shows in the U.S. and MEDTEC shows elsewhere around the world. In 2010, the pairings will be with MEDTEC Japan in Yokohama, MEDTEC China in Shanghai, and MD&M Midwest in Rosemont (Chicago)...Icahn Enterprises has officially acquired Fontainebleau Las Vegas LLC for an aggregate purchase price of approximately $150 million. The Fontainebleau property includes an unfinished building of approximately 7 million square feet that is situated on 25 acres of land...Association management and professional services company SmithBucklin has promoted John Stoiber to Senior Vice President & Chief Executive, Business Trade Industry Practice. A member of the SmithBucklin corporate management team, Stoiber will continue to work out of the company’s Chicago office...The Georgia World Congress Center Authority has appointed Frank Poe as Executive Director. Poe, a 38-year convention center veteran, will assume his new role on April 1, 2010. Poe previously served as Director of the Dallas Convention Center.
