One More Fashion Marketplace for Las Vegas

Four fashion-related show organizers have announced they will hold six tradeshows simultaneously in Las Vegas in what they are calling a strategic alliance.

Four fashion-related show organizers have announced they will hold six tradeshows simultaneously in what they are calling a strategic alliance. The collaboration, to be named Modern Assembly, will be launched at the Venetian and Sands Expo in Las Vegas in August. The official announcement came the day before Advanstar CommunicationsMAGIC Market Week opened, also in Las Vegas.

The gathering will include three existing events that have been held in Las Vegas since 2005, all as part of Business Journals Inc.’s BJI Fashion Group: AccessoriesTheShow, MRket and Stitch.

They will be joined by Agenda, Liberty and Capsule. Agenda, a show held in New York and Long Beach, Calif., that focuses on action sports and streetwear, was acquired by Reed Exhibitions late last year and will be held in Las Vegas for the first time.

Liberty is being launched by Sam Ben-Avraham, who also launched the Project Show, now one of the nine shows owned by Advanstar and part of MAGIC Market Week currently underway at the Las Vegas Convention Center and Mandalay Bay Resort & Casino. Capsule has had an annual edition in Las Vegas the last six years and also has shows in New York, Paris and Berlin.

The BJI shows and Capsule have all been held before at the Venetian and Sands.

“For far too long, the fashion markets in Las Vegas have not lived up to their real potential because they have been so splintered,” says Britton Jones, president and CEO of Business Journals Inc., which owns the BJI Fashion Group. “Now buyers can shop the best of each season without leaving the Venetian.”

The Modern Assembly strategic alliance follows the close of Advanstar’s acquisition of ENK International last month, another fashion-related tradeshow organizer, whose events are now also part of the current MAGIC Market Week in Las Vegas
