The Work at Home Business Expo will be debuting in November at the Fairplex Exposition Complex in Pomona, California, announced the show's creator Derek Romo earlier this month. The two-day show, funded by Romo and a group of angel investors, is designed as a hybrid event that combines a consumer show with the trade.
"It was a response to what i see and what our research in the field indicated as a great interest from attendees and a growing work-at-home industry," says Romo. "We figured this would be a good opportunity for companies in the home-based industry to legitimize themselves by bringing a face and a handshake to their clients."
Romo describes the exhibitor market as a mix of "mom-and-pop" operations and businesses that are part of larger corporate identities and expects to begin to fill the roster about 90 days out. "You'll find representatives from a wide variety of home-based business models at the event," says Romo.
Revenue will come from both exhibitors and attendees. There will be a $10 entry fee, but Romo will incentivize anttendee prospects with discount coupons available on the show's Web site. "There will be a $10 entry fee, but we expect the majority of the attendees will get their entry discount coupons from our site."
The attendance goal for the first show is approximately 4,000 attendees, says Romo, who adds that the show will continue on a quarterly basis, traveling to different cities in California.
