NAB Expands Presence in South America

The National Association of Broadcasters (NAB), producer of the NAB Show, is expanding a partnership with the Brazilian Society of TelevisionEngineering (SET).

Describing SET EXPO in a statement as the “most significant convention for broadcast and digital media professionals in Latin America,” NAB will provide logistical support, offer educational sessions and host an exhibit booth at the Aug.24-27 event in São Paulo. Gordon Smith, president and CEO of NAB, will give the keynote address.

"We are pleased to expand our relationship with SET and to collaborate on SET EXPO, an event we see as NAB Show’s counterpart in Latin America," says Chris Brown, NAB executive vice president. "Both organizations are committed to promoting innovation and education in the broadcast and media industries throughout the Americas."

Started more than 20 years ago, SET EXPO draws more than 10,000 attendees annually. The show focuses on “covering creation, management and delivery of digital content.”

Claudio Younis, SET marketing director, says, “This partnership will solidify the SET show’s dominance as the largest conference and exhibition for the industry in Latin America.”

In December, NAB signed a similar partnership with the Dubai World Center and its event, CABSAT. With that agreement, NAB will create conference content for the March 11-12 event in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. CABSAT is the largest broadcast, digital media and satellite event in the Middle East and Africa.
