NAB Acquires Two Shows From JD Events

The National Association of Broadcasters (NAB) has acquired two New York-based events from JD Events (JDE).

Content & Communications World (CCW) and the Satellite Communications Conference & Expo (SATCON), typically collocated each November at Jacob K. Javits Convention Center in New York, will now become part of NAB’s portfolio of events, which includes the industry-leading NAB Show every April in Las Vegas.

“We have made these additions with the goal of growing both the attendee and exhibitor base of what has emerged as an important East Coast venue,” says NAB Executive Vice President Chris Brown in a statement. “We look forward to developing this event and serving the needs of this very important media market.”

CCW is the largest tradeshow and conference on the East Coast that focuses on media and communications technology. SATCON serves companies in the satellite-enabled communications and content delivery industry.

Brown expects the newly acquired shows to serve the needs of those in the New York content community.

“The JDE team has worked extremely hard to build these two shows to where they are today,” says JD Events CEO Joel Davis in a statement. “We believe the shows have now grown to the point where they require a larger, more experienced owner, with deeper industry reach and relationships, to take them to the next level.”

Last month, SATCON and CCW drew a total of 6,898 attendees—up 22 percent from their 2013 collocation.
