Music Video Connects with Attendees

To create a memorable yet lighthearted experience for the opening general session at the 2009 ASAE & The Center for Association Leadership’s Annual Meeting & Exposition held in August in Toronto, PCI Communications, which produces the general sessions for the event, wrote a song for ASAE members to perform.

The resulting video, dubbed “Connect with Me,” debuted at the opening session, featuring 26 performers from ASAE member associations. To produce the video, each performer recorded over four days in a Washington, DC, park or against a blue screen in PCI’s studio. PCI staff then worked for two weeks to edit and mix the audio and video footage.

The final video was displayed at the opening session on three large video screens placed lengthwise, so it appeared that three people were performing together throughout the song. Two regular screens positioned on either ends of the larger displays listed the names and associations of the performers, so the audience could easily identify everyone. To keep the buzz going after the event, the video was posted to the show Web site and YouTube. To check out the video, visit www.youtube.com/watch?v=TMn1PVkNljc.
