Five Montreal-based health care organizations, Conferences des CHU de Quebec and the Palais des Congres de Montreal will launch a new health care tradeshow and conference Oct. 22-24 called the International Forum on Health (IFH).
The launch at the major Montreal convention center is part of a growing trend in which convention centers partner with event organizers to produce health care events, in many cases to draw attention to the health care institutions in their cities.
“The creation of the IFH forms part of the Palais des Congres Montreal strategy,” says Palais President and CEO Marc Tremblay in a statement, “namely to actively support Quebec’s priority sectors while generating economic and intellectual spinoffs for Montreal and the province [of Quebec].”
Spokesperson Melanie Dallaire said organizers expect 500 to 600 physicians and health care professionals for the event with a tradeshow that will have at least a dozen exhibitors and about as many sponsors. The conference program will include three full days of sessions with nearly 80 speakers from around the world.
Similarly, the George R. Brown Convention Center in Houston earlier announced it would be launching MEDICAL WORLD AMERICAS in April in conjunction with the Texas Medical Center, Messe Dusseldorf North America and the Greater Houston Convention & Visitors Bureau for reasons similar to the Montreal effort.
“The show is an opportunity particularly for the Texas Medical Center to showcase how big it is and what it means to Texas in terms of research and the intellectual capital that is here,” CVB President and CEO Greg Ortale told Expo.
