UBM Canon announced a new online directory and a community outreach program that will give medical device manufacturers access to exhibitors at its MD&M events. The announcement came during MD&M West, held Feb. 12-14 at the Anaheim Convention Center.

This is the first time the company’s exhibitors have been offered the opportunity to be a part of the QMed directory as a service it receives as a show exhibitor.

UBM Canon launched QMed, an online directory of medical device suppliers, products and services, almost two years ago and has been building it out ever since. According to QMed, it now has more than 500,000 unique visitors each year.

“We are thrilled to offer MD&M exhibitors this opportunity,” says QMed Brand Director Tim Simone. “[This] will make it easier for medical OEMs (original equipment manufacturers) to find and connect with qualified suppliers and exhibitors before, during and after an event.”

According to research supplied by the UBM Canon MedTech Group, somewhere around 80 percent of those who are already registered (and qualified) QMed users are also MD&M and BIOMEDevice attendees. Its research also indicated that 83 percent of medical OEMs use some form of online supplier sourcing.

MD&M West is one of 24 events UBM Canon operates for the medical design and manufacturing sector around the world. There are eight editions of MD&M, six of them in the United States, one in India and one in Brazil.

Typically, the largest of the brand, MD&M West in Anaheim has averaged nearly 400,000 net square feet with around 45,000 attendees and more than 2,000 exhibiting companies.
