Light Reading, a division of UBM Tech, will launch The Big Telecom Event June 17-18 in Chicago to focus on innovations in communications technology.
In a blog, Light Reading Editor-in-Chief Ray Le Maistre writes, “What are the hottest innovations in telecom and what do they actually do? Those are the two main questions to be answered at the event.”
The Big Telecom Event, organized in partnership with the Open Networking Foundation, will include technology demonstrations on the showfloor and interactive conference sessions on cutting-edge concepts like software-defined networking, network functions virtualization, small cell architecture, next-generation policy, big-data analytics and mobile networking security.
“A show such as this, with its focus on proof-of-concept live showcases, will help educate and inspire network operators of all kinds,” says Open Networking Foundation Executive Director Dan Pitt in a statement.
However, noting that the tagline for the event is “Specs & Plugs & Rock & Roll,” Le Maistre adds that the two-day event “will marry real-world technology demonstrations and some Grade A partying.”
The tradeshow and conference will take place at the Sheraton Chicago Hotel and Towers. Along with a website that attracts about 300,000 subscribers each month, Light Reading also produces other events like TelcoTV, Ethernet Expo New York and London and The Tower Summit@CTIA.
