The Healthcare Convention and Exhibitors Association [HCEA] released its list of the top 50 largest U.S. medical meetings held in 2010—results show that average total attendance for the shows included on the list saw an increase.
In 2010, an average of about 20,000 individuals came out to the largest meetings—an increase of 5.1 percent from 2009. The number of professionals attending these events also increased by 7.2 percent from 2009 to an average of about 13,300.
The largest show ranked by HCEA was the Greater New York Dental meeting—that event had a total attendance of 58,135 and professional attendance fell around 34,637. The second largest event—with 58,044 total attendees—was the Radiological Society of North America’s.
The meetings that make the top 50 are ranked by reported total attendance, which measures all registered participants at an event, including exhibitors. If there is a tie, professional attendance figures are used decipher rank.
