The 6-year-old event, which typically attracts about 240 exhibitors, will take place April 25-27 at the Westin O’Hare near Chicago.
“When we founded AXPONA 5 years ago, our goal was to produce a show the caliber of the event in Munich, now considered the world standard,” says AXPONA founder Steve Davis in a statement. “This acquisition provides AXPONA with the personnel and experience necessary to achieve that goal.”
Davis is referring to High End Munich, a tradeshow focused on audiophiles and cutting-edge audio technology held each May at MOC Munich.
AXPONA started out primarily as a consumer event but recently added a “dealer day” component that is expected to be more of a traditional tradeshow element geared to retailers and industry experts with more traditional b-to-b networking.
The show also added a new Ear Gear Expo section that will focus on the market for ear buds, headphones and other listening devices.
AXPONA joins JD Events’ roster of four other shows: Content & Communications World, SATCON, Customer Engagement Technology World and Healthcare Facilities Symposium & Expo.
“Steve has done a remarkable job of creating a first-class forum for the manufacturers of high-end audio equipment,” says Joel Davis, CEO of JD Events, in a statement. “We look forward to bringing the event expertise and resources of JD Events together with Steve’s industry knowledge, customer relationships and creativity.”
