HCEA Summit Hosts Joint Session on Transparency Issues

An unprecedented joint-session of two health care associations will open the 2014 Healthcare Convention Marketing Summit on Jan. 22 in Philadelphia.

The annual conference produced by the Healthcare Convention & Exhibitors Association (HCEA) will kick off the first day with a session on the requirements regarding the reporting of physician-related expenses both in the United States and around the world.

HCEA and the International Pharmaceutical Congress Advisory Association (IPCAA) will jointly present the session, titled “The Changing Face of the Congress Dynamic in the Age of Transparency.” The IPCAA will hold its annual meeting Jan. 21-22, prior to the HCEA Summit, also in Philadelphia, and HCEA members are invited to attend.

Other features of the HCEA Summit Jan. 22-23 at the Philadelphia Marriott Downtown this year include a senior-level education session and a new networking event specifically for young professionals aged 40 and under.

The joint session on Wednesday afternoon to open the summit will take on the subject of reporting rules required by both the U.S. government via the Sunshine Act and pan-European requirements and how they will impact health care meetings both in this country and around the world.

The senior level education session will follow the joint session with an update on information for senior-level health care marketing leaders led by William Trombetta, professor at St. Joseph University’s Haub School of Business.

The following full day’s roster of conference sessions will include, among others:

• “City Talk: What Drives Business to Leading Healthcare Meeting Locations and Why?”

• “The Emerging Healthcare Marketplace”

• “Open Payment Programs—Where Are We Now?”
