UFI, the Global Association of the Exhibition Industry, and tfconnect will merge their separate international conferences for top management in the events industry.
The Global Event Summit, organized by tfconnect Managing Director Trevor Foley each September for the last five years, will be combined with the UFI CEO Forum, scheduled for Paris this coming February.
Each conference in the past has typically attracted about 100 C-level executives from show management companies with international portfolios. Many executives had attended both events each year.
The most recent Global Event Summit took place Sept. 4-6 in Lisbon, Portugal. This year’s UFI CEO Forum was held Jan. 30-Feb. 1 in Vienna.
Reed Exhibitions CEO Mike Rusbridge spoke at both events and other speakers, like CEIR President and CEO Doug Ducate, AMR International Chairman Denzil Rankin and jwc CEO Jochen Witt also played roles at the Society of Independent Show Organizers (SISO) CEO Summit in South Carolina in April.
“We have listened to the market,” UFI Managing Director Paul Woodward says in a statement. “Senior players have been telling us that there are too many industry events and that one CEO event would be the way forward. We agree.”
Foley and Woodward have begun planning the combined February event and say more details will be available at the annual UFI Congress in Seoul, South Korea, next month.
“We fully intend that the new event combines the best attributes of the two individual events,” Foley says in a statement.
