DO YOU COME WITH THE CAR?
Ever wondered what’s going through the minds of the glitzy models hired to work the auto show circuit for car companies year after year? Check out one anonymous gal’s blog, Do You Come With the Car?, at doyoucomewiththecar.blogspot.com. DYCWTC shares the inside scoop and shop talk on being a part of some of the world’s biggest auto shows, including why some unmarried models wear wedding rings (aka “man deflectors”) and how the model lineup often changes from the national shows to the regional ones. SUPERCOMM CANCELED
Supercomm, the telecommunications and digital-technology trade show, scheduled for Oct. 26-28 in Chicago, has been canceled due to financial concerns. The show’s sponsors, the Telecommunications Industry Association (TIA) and United States Telecom Association (USTelecom), decided to cancel the show after reviewing financial projections from show manager Expo Comm Events. This may be the end of the road for a show that’s seen a long line of shakeups over the past few years. Launched in 1988, Supercomm drew more than 50,000 attendees in its peak years, but began to suffer as the telecom market took a hit in the early 2000s. In 2006, the show’s owners, Telecommunications Industry Association (TIA) and the United States Telecom Association (USTelecom), briefly split and launched their own shows before coming back together as NXTComm in 2008 and finally reinstating the Supercomm brand for 2009 when Expo Comm, a joint venture between Reed Exhibitions and E.J. Krause, took over management for the show.
