Eric Everard Named President of UFI

The Global Association of the Exhibition Industry (UFI), has named Eric Everard as its new president. Everard is the founder and president of easyFairs, a low-cost turnkey trade fair services provider based in Brussels, and officially takes the position on November 12.

According to the UFI, Everard [pictured], who is 46, will be the youngest executive to serve as president. He’s also the first Belgian to take the post since 1963.

Everard’s prior experience as a trade show executive gave him a leg up on the competition, said the association in a statement. He’s the CEO of Artexis, a trade show organizer that owns the Flanders, Namur and Antwerp Expos. Artexis is also the parent company of Everard’s easyFairs.

Everard’s appointment, which will become official on November 12 during the UFI congress in Singapore, comes about four months after Paul Woodward, founder of Business Strategies Group Limited, took over as UFI’s managing director.
