Diversified Business Communications (DBC), a Portland, Maine-based media company serving a wide range of markets including food service, healthcare and business management, has announced that Graeme Selby of the company’s Diversified Exhibitions Australia division has stepped down from his position as chairman.
Selby founded the division—formerly the independent company Australian Exhibition Services Pty Ltd—in 1982, with backing from the London-based Montgomery Group. Under Selby’s leadership, the company was sold to and became a subsidiary of DBC in July 2000 and was renamed Diversified Exhibitions Australia in 2004. With Selby as managing director and then chairman, the company acquired a number of independent shows, including the Good Food & Wine Show, the Australian Fitness & Health Expo and the Australian Oil & Gas Exhibition, among others.
Selby also helped DBC extend its reach into Asia—specifically China and India, the latter of which Selby sees as a particular opportunity for growth in the industry. The company now has a Diversified Communications India division, which includes professional sound and lighting events, Fine Foods India and two publications.
Based in Melbourne, Selby plans to remain active in the exhibition industry, utilizing his experience in the UK, the Middle East, Australia and Asia.
