Disney Exec Takes Top Spot at Orlando CVB

George Armando Aguel, an executive with The Walt Disney Company for nearly 25 years, has been named president and CEO of Visit Orlando.

Most recently, Aguel was senior vice president of global corporate alliances and operating participants for Disney. He also spent 22 years as senior vice president of worldwide sales and services for Walt Disney Parks and Resorts. Aguel served as chairman of Visit Orlando in 2009 and 2010.

Aguel takes the position that became vacant when former Visit Orlando President and CEO Gary Sain died unexpectedly last year.

“It’s an honor to have the opportunity to lead this highly respected team,” Aguel says.

Paul Mears III, the current chairman of the Visit Orlando board of directors, says, “His knowledge of the meetings and conventions industry, as well as his relationships throughout the travel segment, matches perfectly with the criteria that our search committee identified as priorities.”

Aguel, who has lived in Orlando for 23 years, was responsible for all of Disney’s corporate alliance agreements across each of the company’s business units.
