Almost exactly a year after Reed Exhibitions acquired its first portfolio of cutting-edge fashion shows, today it announced the acquisition of its second: Capsule, a group of 12 contemporary apparel shows held annually in New York, Paris, Berlin and Las Vegas.
Reed Exhibitions acquired the events from the trio of entrepreneurs who started them in 2007—Deirdre Maloney, Edina Sultanik and Minya Quirk. The three will continue to run the shows for Reed Exhibitions.
“The time is right for us to join forces with a world-class company like Reed that can help us do what we’ve always done, better,” says Maloney in a statement.
The announcement came on the eve of Agenda Long Beach. Agenda is a streetwear and action sports show that is still run by the founder, Aaron Levant. Last January, Reed acquired the four editions of Agenda, held annually in Long Beach, Calif., New York and Las Vegas, under similar circumstances.
“Capsule is a great cultural fit with our growing fashion portfolio,” says Reed Exhibitions Senior Vice President Greg Topalian in a statement, “and a great addition to what we’re doing with the Agenda events.”
The next scheduled Capsule event, Capsule Berlin, begins Jan. 14 in Berlin.
