B-to-B Media Trade Show Revenues Up 4.4 Percent

Trade shows continued to carry the water for the business-to-business media and information industry as revenue jumped 4.4 percent in the first six months of 2012 when compared to 2011’s first half, according to ABM’s Business Information Network [BIN] report.

Overall, the industry reported a 3.3 percent gain against the corresponding period in 2011. The numbers are slightly down for both trade shows and overall revenues in comparison with the second half of 2011, however.

Live events, the largest industry component, made up nearly half (45.7 percent) of the $12.5 billion generated by the sector from January to June 2012, up from 40 percent for the full year 2011.

Digital advertising, along with data and business information services, posted strong gains from the first half of 2011, up 14.2 percent and 7.4 percent, respectively. Print advertising fell 4.2 percent over the same period.
