ActivID from Sherpa Solutions combines an active RFID badge with a network of sensors and the Web to provide a real-time locating system capable of monitoring and tracking thousands of people in real time. Unlike passive RFID systems that require an external source to provoke signal transmission, ActivID badges contain a battery and can transmit signals autonomously.
Here’s how the system works:
The ActivPassport badge holder, which broadcasts radio frequency signals at a range of up to 100 feet, also features proximity sensing that works within three to five feet to let attendees exchange information with one another, locate each other or let exhibitors measure attendees’ interest in specific products. Existing paper badges can be easily inserted into the ActivPassport, which includes user-friendly buttons on the back.
An ActivTouch mobile phone application lets attendees perform actions including bookmarking products of interest, writing notes, sending messages to other attendees, requesting a callback, forwarding bookmarks to others, participating in session/speaker evaluation and accessing way-finding to navigate the show floor.
A discreet network of sensors positioned strategically throughout the facility communicates with the badge holders to determine the exact location of attendees. To accurately monitor traffic around small areas such as posters, booths or specific products within a booth, additional, tiny, battery-powered nanoSensors can be placed where needed.
ActivPortal, a companion to the main show site, provides organizers with access to live reports, stats, visual mapping and other real-time data about the event. Attendees can use the portal before, during and
after the show to interact with exhibitors and other attendees, access information they bookmarked at the event and manage their privacy and visibility settings to control what types of information they want to
receive. Exhibitors can use the portal before, during or after the show to interact with attendees, book appointments and provide quotes as well as retrieve data about the performance of their products, services and staff during and after the event. The portal lets organizers perform functions such as controlling budgets, tracking attendee behavior, session attendance and show floor traffic, offering interactive voting, polls and surveys and performing session and speaker evaluations.
Pricing for the solution is based on the number of attendees and exhibitors. For more
